Do I still want to be a nurse?

Of course!!! 😂😂😂
Does it drive me insane when I walk in the door and a patient family member walks up to me, even though I haven't clocked in yet, and starts demanding I tell them how their father is doing. Hell ya, I mean come on, I know you see me with my bag and coffee in hand looking half dead. I just woke up. One thing I will never understand is the audacity of some of these family members.
Don't get me wrong, I get it. I would do the same if I hadn't heard what was going with mom in over 24 hours. But, there is a polite way to ask first and the correct nurse would be preferred.
Or the times that your 78 yr old dementia forgot, again, that he was in the hospital and in fact not at home where his wife is. That leads into a series of jumping out of the bed and fighting kicking and screaming with no help. Other than your fellow coworkers that are drowning as well. 🤦♀️. You know the rest.
I feel like healthcare has changed in so many ways. It's more about what services can we provide you instead of let me take care of your illness so you can go home. I can't tell you how many times I've literally thought about being a bartender instead. You can ask my friends. I know it wouldn't be the same though.
I'm just saying it's ok to feel burnt, to feel done, to walk out and say you'll never be back because we all come back. It's something in us that makes us come back for little fires. That's why we are able to do what we do.
From your friendly neighborhood Nurse ❤️
