First time travel assignment doubts!

I was so nervous. I didn't know what to bring, what to expect, or even if I could do it. I thought everyone would be mean or uninviting to say the least because I was new and I didn't know "their" way.

It was the opposite. Don't get me wrong, I could tell some people didn't like being questioned about how to get ahold of A or B so I would go to the people that were more than willing to help. Or ask even if it they looked bothered because I'm here to help you and more importantly here for the patients.

When it came to the computer system that was a little hard at first but by the second week I had a good hold of it. During my down time I would scroll through and click on everything so I new where to go should I need to find something.

As for being a travel nurse be ready to be floating to other floors. My first assignment, I wasn't assigned to a specific floor so I new to expect it but some of the other nurses hated being floated to different floors. My thoughts are if you had a hard team today then if you get floated maybe you'll get a better one and get to meet some new people.

Find a place to stay before you get to your new city. Email, message, call etc. whatever you have to do before time and sign a lease. So when it's time you pack, get to your place and don't have to stress a week or two before hand.

My advice for a new traveler is to trust in your skills and knowledge and just do it. If you have a goal and keep waiting for the right moment you'll eventually never do it. The patients are the same it's only the procedures and policies that may change some.

And this is advice from your friendly neighborhood nurse. ❤️

Do I still want to be a nurse?

Of course!!! 😂😂😂 Does it drive me insane when I walk in the door and a patient family member walks up to me, even though I haven't...
